Program Overview
Cervical screening with HPV testing is a scientifically validated and globally accepted intervention for identifying women at the precancerous stage, enabling early treatment for cancer prevention.
Program ROSE allows for high-coverage, simple screening in women between the ages of 30-60 years old, rapidly reducing the cost of treating cervical cancer. The key components of the project are self-sampling, HPV DNA testing, and a digital e-health platform for high connectivity to participants with real-time reporting.
Program ROSE aims to be the roadmap for implementation of a large-scale, cost effective and sustainable national cervical cancer screening program throughout the country.
Evidence-based project
The days of the uncomfortable Pap smear procedures for women are numbered. New advances in technology have led to the birth of self-sampling kits to test for HPV, allowing women to test themselves easily from the comfort of their own homes.
The implementation model of Program ROSE is proven through its successful and innovative collaborative trial runs undertaken with global experts in the field. Led by Professor Woo Yin Ling of University Malaya, Program ROSE seeks to bring cervical cancer testing to Malaysian women of all stripes.
With Program ROSE, Malaysia can be the first country in Southeast Asia to implement a population-wide, highly effective cervical cancer screening program, in conjunction with the HPV vaccination program, establishing leadership to other countries in our region.
